Saya no Uta is a horror and gory visual novel developed by Nitroplus. Published in English through JAST USA. Perhaps considered one of the true classic visual novels, and rated highly on visual novel database site VNDB.
In Saya no Uta you follow the story of Fuminori Sakisaka. A 20-year old medical school student who one day suffers a near-fatal traffic accident, which kills his parents and leaves Fuminori severely wounded. From then on, his whole world is changed. Everything he sees is covered in blood and everyone he sees looks like a hideous creature. Even his college friends look like freaks and makes him want to punch them.
Then, during one of his check-ups in the hospital he meets a beautiful girl called Saya. A person he can somehow see as the person that she is.
Not wanting to let Saya go, Fuminori asks Saya to come live with him. Maybe with her nearby he can keep those suicidal thoughts away. Maybe he can find some respite in this mad world that only he can see. But will that be the case?
