It has been less than a year since Muv-Luv’s Kickstarter campaign was succesfully funded, and now the game is available on Steam. Anybody who has pledged for an eligible reward tier for the Kickstarter should’ve gotten their Steam key by now. The release comes in 2 languages (English and Japanese), and has Japanese voices. There are two episodes available, Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimited. For this release Degica has disabled the restrictions on Unlimited so that you can choose it right from the start, but it’s recommended to start with Extra nonetheless.
The Muv-Luv series is a long running series in both visual novel and anime land, and this is only the first release of many. The successful Kickstarter campaign opened the road to the upcoming English releases for Muv-Luv Alternative and the two Photon sidestory collections, Muv-Luv Photonflowers* and Muv-Luv Photonmelodies♮.
Muv-Luv Extra
Protagonist Shirogane Takeru is a 3rd year student living a normal life, spending peaceful days together with his neighbor and childhood friend Sumika. Then on one day a girl named Meiya appears and even comes to live in his house. She’s the sole heir of a huge international financial company and tells Takeru that they are bound by destiny.
Triggered by Meiya’s appearance, his other classmates Chizuru, Kei, Miki, and his best friend Mikoto all get involved in the turmoil around him. With their days now filled with noisy slapstick comedy, it influences each of them, strengthening their feelings. What’ll happen to Takeru in the end?
Muv-Luv Unlimited
On one day Takeru suddenly finds himself awake in a completely different world. In this world mankind has been in war with things called “Beta” for more than 20 years, bringing mankind to the brink of destruction. At the location his school used to be is now a UN military base and the girls from his original world are all pilots in training. Except for his childhood friend Sumika, who doesn’t seem to exist in this alternative world.
Takeru manages to get himself enlisted in the training school and is determined to stay alive until he finds a way to get back to his own world. Now able to interact with familiar yet different faces, what will he do?
