Prefundia page up for Muv-Luv Kickstarter project by Degica and Ixtl

Degica has been hard at work with preparations for the Kickstarter campaign for the Muv-Luv series. Now, they have opened up its Prefundia page, revealing a few more details than what we originally heard at the Anime Expo announcement earlier this year. On the page they confirm that the initial Kickstarter will be meant for the localizations of the original Muv-Luv game (2003) and Muv-Luv Alternative (2006). The text also mentions that their aim is a PC/Steam release, and the backer rewards also include a physical bundle.

Improved assets

For the base game they’ll be using the updated PS3 assets in order to make the game as up-to-date as possible. Which means they’ll also be using the voiced lines for protagonist Takeru. Apparently they’ll also be able to get updated assets directly from Age. On top of all of these features, the game’s engine will also be updated to support the latest versions of Windows and it’ll receive an updated in-game interface.

Muv-Luv series

This section is for those who are unfamiliar with the Muv-Luv series. Muv-Luv started out as a visual novel by Japanese company Age. Feel free to browse its VNDB entry here. As stated before, it was released in 2003 and was subsequently followed by numerous fan discs, sequels, and other game variations, all released on various platforms. But it didn’t stay at just that, numerous anime and manga were also produced, which all helped to increase the series’ popularity.

Stretch goals

For the stretch goals in the campaign they used the feedback from surveys amongst the fans to decide which ones to pursue. The planned goals include updates to the Muv-Luv game, including new CGs and special unlockable content. Another goal is an online digital codex as the original plan for a physical version was unfortunately too expensive to pursue. I recommend checking out the page itself for the full list of stretch goals.

Backer Rewards

Another point that should be mentioned is the planned backer rewards. It seems they assembled quite the list, which includes a special collector’s box with an exclusive art book, as well as various pillow covers and signed copies of the game. Though do note that the list is not yet finalized and things may still change.

Campaign start

That’s all for now. They’re currently expecting to launch the Kickstarter campaign in the second week of September, so keep an eye out if the information overload got you excited for the campaign.
