Gameplay

The gameplay of Beat Blades Haruka is turn-based. Each turn is equal to one day of ingame time. One day is then divided into several phases. There is the morning phase, the afternoon phase, and the night phase.

Player/General stats

Action points
Most actions in the game require action points (AP), these are measured with little dice icons. So in short, the more AP you have, the more you can do each turn.

You can regain AP by choosing “Rest” from the action menu. Also, you’ll have a “Recovery per turn”, which restores some AP each new turn.

Peace Points
The current peace state in town. This amount of PP decreases by enemy appearances and town and be increased again by defeating said enemies. This can be improved further by giving the “Art of Peacekeeping” skill to your leading heroine.

Brutality
The brutality stat can have an effect on the ending for your heroine. Brutality can be raised by making the appropriate choice in a choice window, by being defeated in battle, or by certain Dragon Synergy scenes. A “brutal command” is available in boss battles to automatically lose a fight.

Libido
Determines your AP recovery per turn (Libido / 10). The recovery is rounded down so for example 36 libido will give you 3 AP recovery each turn.

Heroine stats

Love Gauge
The love gauge shows each heroine’s affection towards you. It can be required to reach their subsequent love or true love endings.

SP
SP points are used in several situations:

1. In combat mode each attack other than your basic attack has a SP cost attached to it. The stronger the attack the more SP it will cost.
2. They can be used to teach your heroine new skills from the skill list. Note that each heroine has a maximum SP, so any SP gained beyond this limit will be lost.
3. They can also be used to restore your heroine’s barrier during the night phase.
4. Defeating minions during Castle raids also comes with a SP cost.

SP will recover with dragon synergy amongst other things. A heroine’s max SP can be raised by winning a battle.

Barrier
You can consider barrier to be your heroine’s “HP”. If she runs out of barrier points during combat she’ll be defeated.

Some barrier points will be restored upon the start of a new day, or be restored completely if the heroine has the skill “Barrier Summoning”. You can also restore her barrier points manually with the “Heal Barrier” action during the night phase.

Attack (ATK)
Determines a heroine’s damage.

Defense (DEF)
Reduces the amount of damage taken.

Reflex (REF)
Similar to accuracy and avoidance in other games. This stat determines the hit and dodge chance of your heroine.

Choices

Just like other VNs, this game also provides a set of choices during narration events. Many of the choices do not have any effect on the story and simply provide a specific bonus like increasing your libido or adding peace points.

They are of course also choices that do affect story. Read more about those here (*coming soon).
