Clannad localization progress update, Translation update, BackerKit deadline, and DRM

Over the last week Sekai Project has added several updates to the successful Clannad localization Kickstarter campaign. The posts include a progress update on translation and editing, which mentions that the initial translation has now been completed and editing only needs a few more scripts. That same post also contains 1 preview image of the new HD images that they’ll be using in the localized version of the game.

Furthermore, a deadline for BackerKit has now been set. If you’ve participated in the campaign make sure that you submit your preferences before August 16, 10:00PM (GMT -7). After that date, all pledges will be locked so they can get ready to have everything shipped in November this year.

Unfortunately a sequential update followed in which Sekai Project announced that the physical copies of the game and side stories arc will contain a CD-check as a form of DRM. They understand that not everyone may like this so they offer the option to modify your pledge through BackerKit or cancel your order altogether. More information on the details of the DRM implementation will available shortly.

Clannad

Clannad is a game originally created by Japanese developer Key and released in 2004. It was followed by a whole scala of different versions, including a PS Vita one just last year. Sekai Project partnered with Key to run a Kickstarter campaign for an English translation of the game, which they now aim to release by the end of the year on Steam and a limited physical edition.
