The protagonist in Koinaka is the only son and thus heir of the local shrine. Set in a small rural town, he likes to enjoy his normal school life until he hopes to end up working as a public servant. Then his dad suddenly disappears as talks appear about a second marriage with a young girl. Already having lost his mother our protagonist now has to life alone together with his younger sister. And after an awkward start they eventually manage to live a peaceful life.
