Key has published the OP for the first chapter of the Angel Beats visual novel, called 1st beat. The OP is available on their official Youtube channel and features a song named “Heartily Song” with vocals by Lia. The lyrics are written by Jun Maeda, who’s also responsible for a large part of the scenario for the game. With its 3 minutes in length the OP will give you a glimpse of the familiar characters of the series and a quick glance at some of the CGs.
The story of Angels Beats takes place at a high school in the afterlife, where a select group calling themselves the “Afterlife Battlefront” take up their fight against God. You’ll see the story unfold through the eyes of Otonashi, who meets the leader of the group, a girl named Yuri. She’s rebelling against God for forcing them into a miserable life when they were still alive. Without memories of his own life, Otonashi decides to fight alongside her and joins the Afterlife Battlefront.
Angel Beats! -1st beat- is set to release on May 29 this year.
